The musical driving force behind the MSE is Fintan Murphy, currently Senior Lecturer and Coordinator of Performance at Monash University, Chair of the Victorian String Specialist Panel for the Australian Music Examinations Board and the editor of the Violin Series 7 books for the AMEB.
